Traveling with 5 boys definitely caused some heads to turn and can make for a lot to keep track of WITHOUT trying to keep most of our food choices on the healthy side.

But since you know I am passionate about making healthy food a priority and the way it impacts not just our physical but our mental and emotional well-being as well, I’ve collected some of my best hacks for keeping food as healthy as possible when away from home.

Overnight Oats Recipe (note, I made an even simpler version while we were traveling, basically oats, chia, plant milk/water, frozen berries and sweetener to taste. I just eyeballed it but this recipe will give you a good starting place.)

Some of these are definitely healthier than others, but I was impressed with how many options we had.
At Magic Kingdom we had both the Dole Whip and Pineapple Float (and I honestly thought I had made a mistake–that pineapple float couldn’t possibly be dairy-free!). We had several Southwest Salads and Veggie Rice Bowls, thumbs up!

At Epcot they were having the Flower and Garden Festival and we decided on the Trowel and Trellis (which was entirely plant-based and hosted by Impossible). They had Mexican Street Corn, a Sausage and Kale soup, Korean Short Rib Bowl and a Lavender Pot de Creme. These were all a fun change to try, although the dessert wasn’t terrible but not our favorite.

At Hollywood Studios we shared some California Burgers from the ABC Commissary. I ordered them with the fries and then added extra salads on the side to round out the meal. Sadly the salads and much of the plant-based food had a decent amount of oil, but we did enjoy this special occasion meal!

I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that the Mickey Pretzel is not only plant-based but also cheaper than listed on the menu when you don’t get the cheese sauce. They only had 2 left by the time I got there, so everyone got a taste and we could check that off the list!
