Podcast Episode 26: A Hog Farmer’s Journey to Becoming WFPB Vegan with Craig Milton

Although Craig Milton had grown up on a dairy farm and been a hog farmer himself, he determined to become a strict vegan after watching the YouTube documentary Dominion.

But it wasn’t until this year when he decided to focus on whole plant foods rather than more highly processed ones that he began to see tremendous improvements in every aspect of his health, including joint pain, inflammation markers, blood pressure and cholesterol.

So what is the difference between Vegan and Whole Food Plant Based?

Vegan means you do not eat foods that come from animals.

No meat, no dairy, etc. But you can usually find a vegan version of nearly every food, and many are highly processed with a lot of oil, preservatives, etc.

Whole food, plant-based, means that you focus on eating whole foods with no or minimal processing.

Generally oil is considered a processed food and it’s a good idea to avoid as much as possible.

So as you can see there are a lot of in between places you can go and it can be kind of overwhelming, however I think you’ll learn so much from the steps of Craig’s journey.

I hope this helps you to embrace wherever you are with compassion and love for yourself and have the courage to take the next step, just like Craig did again and again.
